Paul F. Schell, 90, of Newton died on January 15, 2012 at Skiff Hospice Monarch Wing in Newton. Paul has been cremated and no services are scheduled at this time. Paul was born on October 6, 1921 in Reinbeck, Iowa to Fred and Nona (O’Connell) Schell. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and served his country in the U.S. Navy as a pilot in WWII. Paul made his home in Newton, Iowa where he worked as a Senior Design Engineer at the Maytag Company for 29 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the First Presbyterian Church, BPO Elks Newton Lodge 1270, Newton Masonic Lodge 59, an ambassador for Skiff Memorial Hospital, and a past member of both the Newton Management Club and the Newton Country Club. Paul was an avid golfer and loved to travel. Paul is survived by his stepsons, Timothy (Candice) Kling of Kitty Hawk, NC and David Kling (Jeri Bartunek) of Overland Park, KS; and a stepson-in-law, Richard (Cathy) Whittlesey of Windsor, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives, Kathryn Sue “Katy” (Main) Schell in 1973 and Marianna (Dunn) Schell in 2001 and a step-daughter, Kathryn Kling Whittlesey. Memorials may be made to the Kathyrn Kling Whittlesey Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Central College, Pella, Iowa. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home.
