Thomas “Tom” C. Henning Sr., 62, of Chester, Vt., formerly of Newton, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at the Veterans Hospital in Springfield, Vt.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at First Baptist Church in Chester, Vt. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Adams Funeral Home, in Chester, Vt.

Chester - Thomas C. Henning Sr., 62, died Jan. 27, 2012. He was born Nov. 19, 1949, in Newton, Iowa.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1966 beginning a career that included serving in Vietnam. He later started his own pizza business and was active in his community.
Mr. Henning was a member of Post 67, Chester American Legion, and Post 771, Springfield Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and time spent at his camp.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; three sons, Thomas Jr., Mike and Nick; three stepdaughters, Terri Blair, Debbie Aldrich and Kim Austin; two brothers, Jim and Bob Henning; two sisters, Betty Stafford and Chrystal Walker; two grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert Carl and Minnie Viola Redding Henning; a son, Sam; six brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Adams Funeral Home, 35 Depot St.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at First Baptist Church, Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 67.
