Funeral services for Josie Beintema Witmer, 98 of Park Centre Health Care, formerly of 316 W. 9th St. S., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 10 at Reese Chapel.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Sunday and visitation with the family will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name will be accepted. She died Monday at Skiff Medical Center of heart failure.

Survivors are two daughters, Jean (Mrs. Robert) Payne of Newton and Beverly (Mrs. R. R.) Lust of Iowa City; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, in 1969, three brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Witmer, a homemaker, was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and Chapter K, TTT Society.

The daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Blom Beintema, she was born Dec. 26, 1896 in rural Pella and was educated in Pella schools.

She was married to Howard H. Witmer June 28, 1923 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, 7 July 1995.
