Iowa City - Jo Ann Miller, 70, of Iowa City, formerly of Newton, died Tuesday March 19, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Baptist Church in Wellman with the Rev. Gene Carpenter officiating. The body will be cremated following services. Burial will be at a later date. Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona is handling arrangements.
Memorials will be accepted to the First Baptist Church in Wellman or to the First Christian Church in Washington.
The daughter of Ernest and Leona (Bowans) Kile, she was born March 21, 1931 in Newton. She was a graduate of Newton High School and attended communication school in Minneapolis, Minn. On Aug. 10, 1958, she married Don L. Miller in Ames.
She worked as a secratery at Iowa State University from 1955 to 1970, owned and operated a ceramic business from 1972 to 1980, worked for AB Dick in Niles, Ill., from 1981 to 1990. She retired in 1990.Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, David of Lake Elmo, Minn., and Dwight and Tammy Miller of Cedar Rapids; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Dennie Custer of Hiawatha; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eunice and Wayne Rexroat of Salina, Ohio, and Ardyce Lea and Bob Smith of North Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two grandchildren.
