HERRINGTON RITES HELD

KELLOGG (Special)--Mary A. Herrington, 81, of Rte. 1, Kellogg, died Friday at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Dale Schwechel, pastor of the Center Friends Church northeast of Newton, and Dr. L.H. Athey, former pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was at Newton Union Cemetery.

The daughter of William James and Lena Rhetter Balmer, she was born Sept. 7, 1897, south of Laurel. She was married to Harry L. Herrington on Feb. 14, 1923, at her parents' home.

She was a member of the Center Friends Church and the Center Friends Missionary Society.

Survivors include her husband, Harry; three daughers, Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Harmon of Cushing, Minn., Mrs. Les (LaVola) Trout of Newton, and Janice Varner of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a son, James, of Pinckney, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Balmer of Kellogg; and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Maude) Kling of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, two sisters and one brother.
