Mrs. Lillian Owens, 43 of 708 E 13th St N, Newton, died Wednesday evening August 18, 1965 at the Skiff Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax with the Rev. R.V. Schultz, minister of the Nazarene Church in Newton officiating. Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.

Mrs. Owens was born December 12,1921 at Felton, MN. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Glen Smith. She graduated from Mingo High School in 1940 and lived in the Mingo Colfax communities until moving to Newton in 1957.

She was married to Roger W. Owens June 12, 1948 at Blair, Nebr.

Survivors include her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Janice Williams of Avoca and Sandra at home, one grandchild, her mother Mrs. Arminda L. Smith of Colfax, four brothers, Norman E. Smith, Darvin L. Smith, Harold W. Smith and Leo R. Smith all of Colfax and sister Mrs. Janetta Christensen of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her father James Glen Smith in 1964 two brothers Delmar M. Smith in 1955 and Wayne J. Smith April 1965.

The soloist, Miss Karen Loupee was accompanied at the organ by Miss Eleanor Howell. Music was
'Beyond the Sunset' and 'Sometime We'll Understand'.

Bearers were Phillip Dugan, Paul Moran, Robert Haaide, Donald Hunter, George Rumbaugh and Travis Smith.

Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Phillip Dugan and Mrs. Robert Harridge.
