Marvel Marie Wilson, 91, of Monroe died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics in Knoxville.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church with burial following at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 8, with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Monroe Presbyterian Church, Knoxville Presbyterian Church or a hospice of your choice. The daughter of Floyd and Blanch (Birkenholz) McDaniel, Marvel Marie McDaniel was born on April 15, 1920, in Monroe, Iowa. She was a graduate of Monroe High School. On Dec. 15, 1938, Marvel was united in marriage with Lawrence Wilson in Newton. She was described as a patient and devoted homemaker for her family. Marvel enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church.
Those left to honor Marvel’s memory are her three sons, Terry Wilson and his wife Pat of Knoxville, Denny Wilson and his wife Karen of Independence, Iowa, and Rick Wilson and his wife Monica of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Marvel was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Wilson; infant son, Teddy Wilson; and two brothers, Mason and Ray McDaniel.
