Elaine Joan Beverlin, daughter of Eugene Husted and Lois Garnita (Collins) Husted, was born Aug. 23, 1922, in St. Charles, Iowa, and passed from this life April 13, 2011, at Oceana Seniors Center in Hart, Mich., at 88 years of age.
After graduating from high school, Elaine was united in marriage to Ernest Clark (Jim) Beverlin on May 17, 1941, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Rebecca Joan and Marsha Ann. They lived in Truro, Knoxville, Sigourney and Newton before moving to Michigan in 2003.
Elaine attended the Shelby Road Baptist Church. She was active in the Republican Party and worked on election boards. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and also loved baseball — especially the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Cubs.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Eugene Clark Beverlin; husband, Ernest Clark “Jim” Beverlin; sister, Marjorie Husted; and brother, Billie Husted.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Rebecca (Thomas) Rickhoff of Mears, Michigan, Marsha (Ben) Vampatella of Inverness, Florida; grandchildren, Mark, Marjorie, Grant, Jason, Kara, Dulce, Bryan; great grandchildren, Malorie, Britani, Courtni, Jasper, Issac, Lilly, Nora; sisters, Kaye (John) Dutcher of Indianola, Carol (Lyle) VanFleet of Sigourney, Betty Gill of Mountain Home, Ark.; sister-in-law, Cathy Husted of Knoxville; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Truro, Saturday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Interment followed in the St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, Iowa.
