Mr. and Mrs. Clement Brooks received the sad news, last Saturday, of the death of their son Charlie, which occurred at his home in Laramie City, Wyoming, on the 2nd inst.

Charlie’s age was about 34 years. H was born in Newton, but for several years he had lived in the west. Last fall he visited in Newton, spending about two months with his parents and friends here. After leaving Newton he went to Nebraska, having work at a former home, and had finally arrived at Laramie City, on Saturday, the last day of February.

He was immediately taken sick with typhoid fever, and on the following Monday, March 2nd, died. He leaves a wife and two children. ~ The Newton Record, Newton, IA, Friday, March 13, 1896, Page 1, Column 2
