Judy K. Beaver, 71, of Newton died Monday, March 14, 2011, at her home in Newton.
The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials in Judy’s name may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of George and Helen (Phillips) Avon, Judy was born July 14, 1939, in Lovilia, Iowa. She grew up in Lovilia and graduated from Lovilia High School in 1958.
Judy worked at the Maytag Company for 22 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed sewing and embroidering, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing Yahtzee and other games; taking trips with her sisters; and spending time with her family — especially her grandkids. Judy had lived in Newton for over 40 years.
Judy is survived by two daughters, Linda (Preston) Brown of Newton and Cathy Kendall (Jim Elkins) of Newton; two sons, Tim (Billie) Beaver of Newark, Ohio, and Bobby Beaver of Pella; five grandchildren, Michelle (Justin) Lambert, Samantha Brown (Kenny Willemsen), Cristy (Travis) Clark, Sara Beaver and Kendra Kendall; five great-grandchildren, Andrea, Taylor, Katelyn, Allison and Preston; and two sisters, Janice Groves of Des Moines and Joan (Don) Little of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jack Avon, George Avon Jr. and Jimmy Avon; and two sisters, Jerri Avon and Julie Clark.
