Danny Wayne Smith, 62, of Chino Valley, Ariz., died Friday, June 25, 2010.
The body has been cremated and there is no service planned.
The son of John D. and Zelma M. Smith, he was born July 24, 1947, near Chariton. Raised in Newton, he was a member of the NHS Class of ‘65, later earning his GED. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served 13 years with the U.S. Marine Corps. A former fireman for the city of Newton, he was a retired crash crew fireman for the Des Moines International Airport.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his mother, Zelma; his children and grandchildren; his brothers, Ken (Carol) of Indianola and Brian (Sue) of Newton; and his sisters, Connie Morrison (Daryl) of Grinnell and Brenda Breckenridge (Brad) of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, William.
