Irene Eliza (Pierce) Warrick died on Friday, June 11, 2010, at Taylor House in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the First Baptist Church in Colfax with burial following at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 14, at the church with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Irene was born on December 5, 1919 to Faye and Margaret Pierce. On October 14, 1939 she married Frank Day Warrick. They lived and farmed in the Valeria area most of their married life. They had three children, Gordon (Cindy) Warrick of Sanford, MI; Patricia Kay Warrick Fitzsimmons of Colfax; and Dennis Gregory (Linda Neumann) Warrick of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Faye and Margaret Pierce; her husband, Frank; her son, Dennis.; a great-granddaughter, Jerrica Elizabeth Martin. She was also preceded by two infant brothers, Merle Dean and Robert; four adult brothers, Melvin, Willis, Eugene and Park Pierce; two sisters, Wilma Hill and Gertrude (Roy) Warrick.
She is survived by one brother, Leonard (Joyce) Pierce of Colfax. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Julie (Michael) Pointer of Seaford, VA; Angela Martin (Joe Robinson) of Bedford, KY; and Stephen (Monnette) Warrick of Sunbury, OH; Carmen (John) Borts of Colfax; and Cherish Day (Nick) Rose of Urbandale; Kelly (Jesse) Begel and Jennifer Warrick of Dubuque. She is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren: Michael Martin; Ricky Robinson; Tanner, Taylor and Nathaniel Warrick; Jorden, Colten, Camden, Jayden, Chaylee Borts; Brenden and Caiden Begel; Conner and Addisyn Warrick; and Jaxon Day Rose as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was a consummate farm homemaker and partner in the running of their farm northwest of Valeria. She spent her life serving the needs of others and placing them before herself. Her reputation for the best chocolate cake and potato salad was well known in the area. In later years she lived in Newton and Colfax where she touched the hearts of many. She attended the Colfax First Baptist Church for many years, sharing in fellowship with a great many family and friends.
