Noring, Ruth E. – 1918-2010

Ruth Ellen Noring, 91, the daughter of John Marion and Iva A. (Campbell) Eubank, was born Aug. 4, 1918 in Ira, Iowa. She graduated as salutatorian from the Mingo High School in 1935. Ruth was a part of the only Mingo girls basketball team to go to State. Ruth attended two years of normal training at Simpson College, where she had pitched one year for the ladies softball team. She taught rural school for several years near Collins and Rhodes.
On May 14, 1938, Ruth was united in marriage with Glenn Maurice Noring in Mingo. She devoted her life to her husband and family. Together they farmed near Collins and Rhodes until 1949, when they moved near Mingo. Ruth was a member of the Mingo United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Martha Circle in Mingo and Rebecca Lodge in Rhodes. She enjoyed reading, ceramics and listening to music.
Ruth died on Wednesday morning, June 9, 2010, at Story Medical Senior Care in Nevada, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; a sister, Harriett Elaine Eubank, in infancy; and two brothers, William Marion and Harold Francis Eubank.
Those left to honor Ruth’s memory include her daughters, Karen Louise (Charles) Miller of Newton, Miriam Sue (Monty) Carr of Gilman, Iowa, and Glenda Irene (David) Swegle of Nevada, Iowa; her sons, Dean Charles (Roxanne) Noring of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Lowell Maurice (Mary) Noring of Colfax, Iowa; her 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Alice Louise (Marion) Henry of Bettendorf, Iowa; and her many friends.
Ruth’s family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to the Mingo United Methodist Church or Union Chapel Cemetery in Ira and may be left at the funeral home.
