Brock, Eleanor Nanette – 1924-2010

Nanette Brock, formerly of Newton, passed away Feb. 15, 2010, in Mountain Home, Ark.

Nanette worked at the former Automatic Washing Machine Co. until it closed and then over to Maytag Research and Development.

Nanette married Bill Brock in the late 1940s. Nanette loved her antiques and books. She had The Pines Antique Shop. She researched histories on two or three houses for the Newton Historical Society Museum. When she and Bill moved to Mountain Home, Nanette immediately joined The Friends of the Library.

Nanette is survived by her son, Tim, and his wife, Sue, of Mountain Home and two grandchildren, Erika of Little Rock, Ark., and Justin in Costa Rica with the Peace Corps. She is survived by siblings Madeleine Wilson of Newton and Thalia Baldwin of Galesburg, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings and her husband, William “Bill” Brock.
A memorial service will be the first week in June.

A memorial service will be at a later date in Newton, Iowa for Eleanor Nanette Brock of Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Eleanor Brock died Monday, February 15, 2010 in Gassville, AR, at the age of 85. She was born in Sioux City, IA, on November 12, 1924, daughter of Earnest and Carolyn Cline Arndt. She married William H. Brock on April 5, 1946 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. She and her husband lived in Newton, Iowa. After retiring from the Maytag Company where she was employed as a secretary, Nanette and her husband moved to Mountain home, Arkansas in 1980. She was a member of the Friends of the Library and loved literature, birds and gardening.

Eleanor Brock is survived by her son, Timothy (Susan) Brock of Mountain Home, AR; 2 grandchildren, Erika Laurel Brock of Little Rock, AR and Justin Timothy Brock of Cortes, Costa Rica and 2 sisters, Madeleine Wilson of Newton, IA and Thalia Baldwin of Galesburg, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and her husband.
