Bobby “Bob” Dean Mouchka, 69, passed away Sunday morning, May 30, 2010, at his home in Newton, Iowa, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born Nov 17, 1940, in Montezuma, Iowa, to Melvin “Buss” Mouchka and Clara Neola Byers. When he was a year old, his family moved to Newton, where he would live out the remainder of his life. Bob was a graduate of Newton Senior High School in 1958.
In January 1958, he married Alice Jane Wickliff, his sweetheart since eighth grade, and together they raised a family.
Bob worked 46 years as a GM mechanic, but his real passion was youth involved activities — including 21 years of coaching baseball, eight years of coaching softball, six years as an assistant Scoutmaster and hundreds of hours attending various activities and sporting events of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob also enjoyed playing cards and bicycling.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Tom Osborn; his father and stepmother, Edith Morrow Mouchka; his brothers, Wayne and Raymond; two stepbrothers; and two stepsisters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane, of 52 years; children, Randy (Julie) Mouchka of Rochester, Minn., Roger (Becky) Mouchka of Newton, Vicki Wright (Rod) of Newton, Rick (Diane) Mouchka of Norfolk, Neb., and Andrew Mouchka of Newton; a close niece, Wendi DeHaai, and her son, Brady Underberg, of West Des Moines; his grandchildren, Jennifer Mouchka, Stephanie Sparks, Craig Mouchka, Jon Wright, Eric Mouchka and Lauren Mouchka; great-grandchildren, Bailey Sparks, Madilynn Mouchka and Riley Mouchka; many nieces, nephews and various other family members; his stepbrother, Larry (Pat) Morrow of Victor; and a stepsister, Donna (Bob) Gorsuch of West Des Moines.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Cornerstone Bible Fellowship, 1000 E. 12th St. S. in Newton. A private family burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bob’s name or to Hospice of Jasper County. Memorials may be left at the church during the visitation.
