Fred C. Strater is Stoke Victim Friday Morning

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Morgan Funeral Home for Fred C. Strater, who, died Friday morning at 4:30 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital, following a stroke of paralysis the preceding Tuesday.

Interment was made in the Monroe cemetery.

The services were conducted by Rev. Fredrick D. Boldt, pastor of the First Lutheran Church.

Born In County

Deceased was a lifelong resident of Jasper County and was the son of John William and Reka Strater and was born on the Strater homestead northeast of Monroe, February 19, 1866.

After the death of his parents, he with his brother Herman, who died November 14, 1931, farmed the home place, up to about 40 years ago, when they both retired from active work on the farm. Fifteen months ago he moved to Newton and purchased a residence at 721 North Second Ave West.

He had never married and was a member of the Lutheran church.

Surviving are Mrs. Mary C. Hummel, southeast of Newton, and Mrs. Lena Post of Moulton, sisters; two nephews, Fred w. Hummel, of near Monroe, and Elmer Post of Newton; three nieces, Mrs. Thel Allen and Opal Post of Moulton and Mrs. Freda Tiffany of Dexter, Mo. ~ Jasper County Mirror, Thursday, June 17, 1937
