Adeline Hawn Services Held July 24
Adeline L. Hawn, 91, of Venice, Calif. and formerly of Shell Rock, Ia., died Friday, July 19, 1991, at the Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital in Marina Del Ray, Calif.
Adeline Lulu Metzger was born on Feb. 28, 1900, near Shell Rock, the daughter of Harvey and Mabel Emily (Amick) Metzger. She attended school in Shell Rock, where she graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1919. She then taught school in Arlington, Ia., where she met Woodworth L. Hawn. They were married Feb. 28, 1923 at his parents home in Arlington. They made their home in Braddville, Ia., which was Pastor Hawn’s charge at that time. He served the United Methodist Church in Colfax from 1952 to 1957. They retired and made their home in Longville, Minn. Woodworth died in 1973, and Adeline had made her home near her children for the past several years.
She was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of Eastern Star.
Among her survivors are one son, Wayne Hawn of Crawfordsville, Ga.; two daughters, Carol Rhiner of Venice, Calif. and Norma Warnock of Colfax; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at the United Methodist Church in Shell Rock, with Pastor Robert Holdorf officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock.
Memorials to the United Methodist Church in Colfax will be accepted.
