George P. Browning, 84, of Newton died Monday, March 22, 2010, in the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing in Newton.
A graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at Palo Alto Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton. Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County or Jasper County Honor Flight may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Christina of Newton; his son, Kevin Lee (Kim) Browning of Newton; his daughter, Cynthia Rae (Bruce) Bradshaw of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandsons, Micheal Preston Browning of Newton and Mark Phillip Browning of Newton; a sister, Helen (Terry) Gilson of Reeds Spring, Mo.; and seven nieces and nephews.

George P. Browning was born September 28, 1925. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert G. and E. Pearl (Arbaugh) Browning.
George worked as a Process Engineer Association Sr. at the Maytag Company for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Malcom American Legion, First Christian Church, and the Moose Lodge. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
