Don F. Compton Dies Yesterday

Sixteen Year Old High School Boy Succumbs to Pneumonia After Illness of Only Ten Days.

After an illness of about ten days, Donald F. Compton, 16 years old dies of pleural pneumonia at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Elmer Hammer in this city. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Compton of near Killduff. He had made his home in Newton with his aunt while attending the local high school. He was taken ill about ten days ago with influenza which developed into pneumonia, causing his death on Sunday morning.

Donald F. Compton was born on a farm in Buena Vista Township January 16, 1903, and he had always made his home in that vicinity. He enrolled in the local high school last fall and would have completed his first year of high school work in June. He is survived by his parents and two brothers, Earl and Wallace both of near Murphy.

Funeral services were held at the Albert Compton residence six miles south-east of Newton at 2:30 o’clock this afternoon and burial was made in the Mt. Zion cemetery. The Rev. Mr. Neville of Killduff had charge of the funeral services. ~ Newspaper Unknown.
