F.M. STEPP SERVICES ARE CONDUCTED TODAY

Funeral services for F.M. Stepp, 83, of Kellogg, a resident of Jasper County for more than 50 years, were held this afternoon at the Johnson Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Morris Hay conducted the services. Burial was in Newton Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mabel Veber, the organist, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Maurice Rodgers.

Pallbearers were Max Moberly, Louis Hasselbrink, Raymond Coburn, Charles L. Doane, Louis Kling and Charles M. Doane.

F.M. STEPP, 83, LONGTIME KELLOGG RESIDENT, DIES

F.M. Stepp, 83, of Kellogg, a resident of Jasper County since 1909, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home.

Mr. Stepp had been a resident of Nelson Manor since December.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Morris Hay will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park.

Mr. Stepp is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E.M. (Roxie) Noethe of Slayton, Minn., and Mrs. Don E. (Leatha) Hesson of Newton; three sons, Proctor and Earl Stepp of Kellogg and Bates Stepp of Newton; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Nola Brown of Owensboro, Ky., Mrs. Nina Burke of Slavens, Ky., and Mrs. Nan Vaughan of Des Moines; and a brother, Otto Stepp of Kellogg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1959, a son, a daughter and three sisters.

Mr. Stepp was a member of the Baptist Church in Tennessee.

The son of James and Melvina Crockett Stepp, he was born March 20, 1880 in Jamestown, Tenn.

Educated in the Jamestown schools, he came to the Kellogg area in 1909.

He was married to Hattie Crockett Dec. 26, 1900.

Mr. Stepp was a retired farmer.

NOTE: Birth year of 1881 may not be correct. He appears in the 1880 Census in Tennessee, age 1.

NOTE: Obituary of his wife, Hattie, has marriage year as 1902.
