Helene Marie Lorton, 90, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Country Manor Care Center, Sartell, Minn.
Funeral services and visitation were Sunday at Washburn-McReavy Strobeck Johnson Chapel, 1400 Main St., Hopkins, Minn. Private burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Hampton, Iowa, to Chris and Jennie Christiansen, grew up in Newton, Iowa, and worked for Bell Telephone and the Maytag Company.
On March 24, 1940, she married James E. Lorton. They were blessed with one child, Sharon. The family moved to Wayzata and then to Sartell in 2004. She was active in the community, enjoyed traveling, loved her pets and gardening. She was a lifetime member of the DAV and St. David’s Episcopal Church, Minnetonka, Minn.
She is survived by daughter, Dr. Sharon Lorton, Clearwater, Minn., and a sister-in-law, Martha Lorton Moss, and her family of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James, in 1989. The family wishes to thank the Country Manor staff for their kind and caring service. Memorials to the DAV are preferred.
