Randy D. “Digger” Dammeier, 52, of Newton died on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at his home in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials in Randy’s name may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include his mother, Carole Gattenby of Olathe, Kan.; his sister, Kim (Joe) McKnight of Olathe, Kan.; his brother-in-law, Steve Borchert of Pasadena, Texas; his niece, Laura McKnight; and his nephews, Robbie McKnight and Jeff, Jim, Jason and Jeremy Borchert.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Dammeier, and sister, Linda Kay Borchert.

Randy D. Dammeier was born January 11, 1958. Randy was a graduate of Newton High School in 1976.
Randy was the caretaker of Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. He had also been a service station attendant and tow truck operator.
Randy was a member of the Foursquare Church in Newton. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an enthusiastic NASCAR race fan and enjoyed going to races at the Iowa Speedway in Newton.
Interment: A private family burial will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.
