Woody, Mary “Ellen” Waters – 1942-2009

Mary “Ellen” Waters Peterson Woody, 67, of Baxter, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 in the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter with Chaplin Merle Smith officiating the service.
Mary was born on April 14, 1942, to Mary Alice Painter Waters Gauch and Albert L. Waters. Baxter has been her home for many years. Mary’s working years were spent as a medical aide and nursing assistant in and around Jasper County.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Steven (Alicia) Peterson of Baxter, Kelly (Larry) Mumford of Topek, Kan., Victor “Pete” Peterson (Paula) of Newton, Yance (Wendy) Woody of Grimes and Jodon Woody of Baxter; 14 loving grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers; Jerry (Karen) Waters of Rockmount, Ga., and David Waters of Dallas, Ga.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother and two children.
Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements.
