Darrell T. Wright, 67, of Newton died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends with a lunch at the funeral home following the services.
Memorials in Darrell’s name may be left at the funeral home. Memorials will be used to purchase a park bench for the Newton Bike & Walking Path.
Survivors include his wife, Jody of Newton; children, Travis Wright, Matt (Apryl) Wright, Melissa (Danny) DePlessis, and Renae (Kirk) Brown; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his two brothers, Jerry (Trisha Folan-Wright) Wright of Harrisburg, Pa., and Tom (Monica) Wright of Highland, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura DePlessis; a brother, and two sisters.

Darrel was born September 17, 1942.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ethel (O'bryon) Wright; daughter, Laura DePlessis; brother, Jim Wright; and two sisters, Meme Logan, and Laurie Ann Vislosky.
Darrell served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Darrell had been a Material Controller for many years and then he worked five years for Interstate Battery in purchasing, retiring in 2008.
Darrell was a member of MAYPICS. He loved to walk the Newton Bike & Walking Path with his dog, Lady. He also enjoyed working on the computer and doing digital photography.
Memorials in Darrell's name may be left at the funeral home. Memorials will be used to purchase a park bench for the Newton Bike/Walking Path.
