Mother Dies in Oregon

M.C. McDannel has received a letter from Cove, Oregon, bringing the sad news of the death of his aged mother Mrs. Allen McDannel, which occurred there on Saturday the 4th inst., after a brief illness from heart trouble. Mother McDannel would have been 79 years old had she lived until next March. Her husband had been almost helpless for nearly five years, following a paralytic stroke, his death expected at any time; and the faithful companion for over 57 years, had given her untiring attention to his comfort, little thinking that she was too wearing out, and would preceed him to the better world.

Mr. and Mrs. McDannel came to Jasper County nearly 60 years ago, when both were young. They were married in Newton 57 years ago, and for many years lived near Reasnor, then in Monroe until 9 years ago when they moved to Cove, Oregon. They had fourteen children, only four of who survive the parents; George McDannel and Mrs. Carl Peterson, in Cove; Marvin McDannel, Medford, Oregon, and M. C. McDannel of this city. The parents’ home had been with Mrs. Peterson, youngest daughter. Father and Mother McDannel has been devoted members of the Methodist church from their youth. Many old-time friends will be grieved to learn of the death of the good old mother. ~ Newspaper Unknown
