Paul R. Daniels, 93, of Grinnell, formerly of Oelwein, died on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Paul was born on April 5, 1916, to William A. and Anna (Rooney) Daniels in West Union, Iowa. He was united in marriage with Frances Katherine Meils on Sept. 19, 1939, in Independence, Iowa. They made their home in Oelwein from 1939 until 2004. Paul moved to Newton, Iowa, in 2004 and then to Grinnell in 2005.
Those left to honor Paul’s memory are his three children, Anita (Joe) Allwood of Grinnell, Harry (Diane) Daniels of Gainesville, Fla., and Ken (Pam) Daniels of Belleville, Ill.; five grandchildren, including Beth (Corey) Walker of Newton; and his five great-grandchildren, including Sophia and Corbin Walker of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances, in 1977; a grandson, Bruce Lane; and six brothers and one sister.

Paul was born on April 5, 1916 to William A. and Anna (Rooney) Daniels in West Union, Iowa. He graduated from West Union High School. Paul was united in marriage with Frances Katherine Meils on September 19, 1939 in Independence, Iowa. They made their home in Oelwein from 1939 until 2004. Paul worked as a rough carpenter along with other jobs. He was once active in the IOOF and Lutheran Brotherhood. Paul enjoyed golfing, bowling, and pitching horseshoes until his late 80’s and going to small town celebrations. He also had devoted his time and energy to genealogy. Paul moved to Newton, Iowa in 2004 and then to Grinnell in 2005. Those left to honor Paul’s memory are his 3 children, Anita (Joe) Allwood of Grinnell, Harry (Diane) Daniels of Gainesville, FL, and Ken (Pam) Daniels of Belleville, IL; 5 grandchildren, Beth (Corey) Walker of Newton, Gretchen Daniels of Gainesville, FL, Erin Daniels of Orlando, FL, and Kenn (Maggie) Daniels and Kaitlin Daniels of Belleville, IL; and his 5 great-grandchildren, Sophia Walker, Corbin Walker, Taylor Watson-Daniels, Makayla Daniels, and Jackson Daniels. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances in 1977; a grandson, Bruce Lane; and six brothers and one sister.
