DAVENPORT — Memorial Services to celebrate the life of Clementine Assunta Erminia Mendell, 80, a resident of Davenport and formerly a longtime resident of Newton, Iowa, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3601 Speedway Drive in Newton.
Burial will follow the funeral service at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. The family will greet friends prior to the memorial service on Friday at Kingdom Hall.
Clementine died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at the Kahl Home for the Aged, Davenport.
Clementine A.E. Morrone was born Aug. 15, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Frank and Margherita (De Maria) Morrone. She was united in marriage to Eugene Richard Mendell on Jan. 21, 1950, in Detroit, Mich. He preceded her in death in May of 1997.
Clementine retired after 30 years as a Tupperware representative in the Newton area. She also had co-owned Mendell Bakery in Newton with her husband Eugene. Clementine was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Newton, Pythian Sisters and was a former Girl Scout leader.
Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home for the Aged.
Survivors include a daughter, Pam Portland (Mike) of Davenport; a son, Perry Mendell (Terry) of Pella, Iowa; grandchildren, Lisa Marie Mendell, Scott Mendell and Margret Proper; a sister, Eugenia Lubahn of Columbia, Mo.; and a brother, Joe Morrone of Detroit.
Clementine was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; a sister, Anna Lacharite; and a brother, Alfred Morrone.
