Lawrence C. “Mac” McAnelly, 102, of Newton, formerly of Monroe, died on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Karen Acres Health Care Center in Urbandale, Iowa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from noon until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society may be left at the funeral home.
Mac grew up in Seymour, Iowa, farmed in Monroe, owned and operated Mac’s DX in Woodward, Iowa for 20 years, retiring in 1970, and then moved to Newton.
Survivors include his two daughters, Helen E. Larimer of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dixie J. Weeks of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Katherine Damon of Melcher, Iowa, and Shirley (Alan) Ricketts of Moline, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nina, in 1984; and son, Robert, in 1985.
