Virgil Mack Hesse Jr., 38, of Newton died on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

Virgil Mack Hesse, Jr. was born January 27, 1971.
Interment: Immediately at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
Those left to honor Mack's memory are his wife, Stacy; son, Virgil M. “Trey” Hesse III of Newton; and daughter, Sara Hesse of Newton; his mother, Lois Hesse of Newton; two brothers, Sam Hesse, and Michael Hesse, both of Newton; his maternal grandmother, Dora Mudra of Centerville, Iowa; mother-in-law & step father-in-law, Donna and Paul Unger of Newton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and father, Virgil Mack Hesse, Sr. in 2001.
Mack graduated from Newton High School in 1990. He had been a production group leader for the Maytag Company.
Mack was a member of the UAW Local 997 in Newton.
Mack loved his family and his two dogs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and racing, especially racing his “Hot Rod Lincoln.”
