MAXWELL — Darla Jean Swalwell, 54, of Maxwell, Iowa, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Maxwell Christian Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.
Darla was born in Ames, Iowa, on April 16, 1955, the daughter of James R. and Gloria (Warren) Grant. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1973. Darla was united in marriage to Craig Swalwell on Sept. 18, 1976, at the First Lutheran Church in Newton. She was studying to be a paralegal and attended ISU and Simpson College. She would have graduated in May 2010.
Darla was a member of the Newton First Lutheran Church; attended Maxwell Christian Church; CWF; helped with AWANA; Maxwell Library Board; Secretary of the Maxwell American Legion Auxiliary, and the Iowa Association of Legal Assistants. Darla loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include her parents, James and Gloria Grant of Newton, Iowa; her husband, Craig of Maxwell, Iowa; two sons, Ryan Swalwell and Shane Swalwell, both of Maxwell; one daughter, Mellissa (Randy) Hoskin of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Emma Pearl Hoskin and Savanah Grace Hoskin; one brother, Mike (Vikki) Grant of Memphis, Tenn.; and one sister, Connie (Blaine) Hudnall of Des Moines, Iowa.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
