Mrs. Pearson, Co-Operator Newton Drug Store, Dies

Mrs. Frank (Velma Lillian) Pearson, 68, of 508 S. 5th Ave. W., who with her husband operated Pearson Drug Store until her retirement in 1977, died Sunday morning at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.

The Rev. William Sexton, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Johnson-Reese Chapel after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church will be accepted. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or at the church.

Survivors are her husband, Frank; a son, Phil of Newton and two grandsons, David Earl Pearson and Philip Ray Pearson, both of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Cecil Warner.

Mrs. Pearson, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Newton Country Club and Skiff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, had been secretary to the Newton Community Schools superintendent from 1930 to 1940.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Warner, she was born Mar. 1, 1910 in Prairie City and was graduated from Newton Community High School in 1928.

She was married June 25, 1940 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
