Lyle V. Page Dies Sunday; Rites Tuesday

Lyle V. Page, 77, of 404 W. 5th St. S., a resident of Newton since 1922, died Sunday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Montezuma Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 5:30 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions to a fund set up in Mr. Page's name will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Esther; a daughter, Mrs. Emery (Beatrice Arlow) Mc Lead of Newton; two grandsons, Lewis Mc Lead of Ames, and William Mc Lead of Newton; a granddaughter, Mrs. Dave (Marlene) Cooper of Newton; and six great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Glenn Page of Kanawha and Elwood J. Page of Dunsmuir, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his first wife, the former Bernice Johnson.

Mr. Page, a member of the First Christian Church and the Jasper County Senior Citizens, has been employed by B and O Sales and Service and the Newton Fuurniture Co., as a refrigeration and appliance service man.

The son of Sherman W. and Mae Mc Farland Page, he was born June 24, 1901 at Corwith, Iowa. He went to Corwith High School where he was a star basketball player.

He was married to Esther Rogers Oct. 21, 1962 in Newton.
