R. Campbell Dies on Monday; rites Thursday

Richard L. Campbell, 84, of 414 E. Fifth St. N., a resident of Newton for the past three years, died Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. C. Brain.

Funeral services for Mr. Campbell, a resident of Brazil, Iowa, in Appanoose County most of his life, will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home in Centerville.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Centerville.

Mr. Campbell will lie in state at Toland Funeral Home until 9 p.m. today.

Survivors are two sons, Ross and Tilmont Campbell, both of Rock Island, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. W. C. (Vera) Brain of Newton, Mrs. George (Helene) Wilson of Addison, Ill., and Mrs. Roy (Yulon) Jahnke of Lewis, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Harry Benjamin of Altadena, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Meadows of Moravia, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1962; a grandson in 1951; four brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Campbell was a member of the Methodist Church.

The son of James and Susan Williams Campbell he was born May 5, 1881 at Scotthoven, Pa.

He was married to Grace May Sherrick in 1905 at Brazil, Iowa.

Mr. Campbell was a retired coal miner.
