R. D. Terris Dies Sunday Afternoon
Stricken by Heart Attack Suddenly; Born in Nova Scotia

Robert D. Terris, 46, of Newton died suddenly at his home at 524 West Fourth street South Sunday afternoon. He had been working in the yard when he was suddenly stricken with a heart attack.

Services will be from the Sacred Heart Catholic church here with Father T. J. McCann conducting the rites. The date and time of the services has not yet been announced. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.

Born in Nova Scotia

Mr. Terris was born July 25, 1901, at Spring Hill, Nova Scotia, Canada. His parents are Oscar and Huldah Terris of Spring Hill. He was educated in the Nova Scotia schools, and on Jan. 31, 1925, he was married to Catherine Peters at Wayburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. From Saskatchewan he and Mrs. Terris moved to Denver where they made their home for a while before moving to Newton in 1929.

For many years Mr. Terris was an employee of the Automatic Co., but he had relinquished his job several months ago. Since that time, he had been doing gardening work.

Survivors

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Robert and Ralph, both at home; two daughters, Mrs. Keith Jenkins of Newton and Margaret at home; his father and mother of Spring Hill; one brother, Harry and one sister, Mrs. Grace Livingston, both of Spring Hill.

R. D. Terris Rites to Be Thursday Morning.

Funeral rites for Robert Terris will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Sacred Heart church with Father T. J. McCann officiating.

The Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Murdoch Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harold McConkey and Mrs. William Starret will be in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Wilbur Shenton will accompany Mrs. Glen Altman who will sing, "Ave Marie", and "Lord of Mercy and Compassion."

Pallbearers will be Charles Flor, Harold McConkey, Hobart Cammack, Robert Clement, H. H. Hummel, and Elmer L. Watkins.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart cemetery.

Mr. Terris died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday. ~ Newton Daily News, August 19, 1947
