MARSHALLTOWN - Robert L. Terris, 57, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, a former Newton resident, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 28, at the Home.
Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The Rev. Jim Vrba, priest at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella, will conduct services.
Burial will be in the Veterans Section of Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Monday. Visitation with the family will be held following wake services.
Memorials to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are a son, Robert "Bobby" of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Patty Terris of Corpus Christi, Tex., Lisa (Mrs. Joe) Jensen of Jersey City, N.J., and Missy Terris of Texa; the three grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Ann (H. Keith) Jenkins of Newton, Midge (Mrs. Arthur) Ver Schuur of Round Rock, Tex. a brother, Ralph Terris of Long Beach, Calif., and his mother, Catherine M. Terris.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Terris.
Mr. Terris was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Newton American Legion Post 111, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655. He was a veteran of the Navy.
Mr. Terris had been a plumber at the Maytag Co.
He was born May 14, 1931, in Newton, the son of Robert Floyd and Catherine M. Peter Terris.
