BAXTER — Beulah M. Ghent, 93, of Baxter died on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at the Baxter Health Care Center in Baxter.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Restland Cemetery in Baxter with the Rev. Gene Bucklin of the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter officiating. The family will greet friends at 11 a.m. Friday with a coffee time at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
Memorials to the donor’s choice may be left at the funeral home.
Beulah was born to Joseph and Mary (Petermeier) Steinberger on May 14, 1916, in Jasper County. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County, living in the Baxter area. She was united in marriage to Chester A. Ghent on April 6, 1944, in Newton.
Beulah was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. She worked at the Maytag Factory during World War II. She also enjoyed working during the holidays for several years at the Maytag Dairy Farm.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky (Carroll) Froah of Newton; two grandsons, Christopher (Michelle) Froah of Baltimore, Md., and Jonathan (Andrea) Froah of Iowa City; five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, Andrew, Ella and Liam; and many nieces and nephews.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester in 1976; four sisters, Charlotte Johnson, Verna Tupper, Dorothy Frahm and Iva Steinberger; and two brothers, James and Robert Steinberger.
