Linn, Chrystal M. – 1919-2009

RICHFIELD, Minn. — Chrystal M. Linn, 89, of Richfield, Minn., died on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn.
She was born on the family farm in Kellogg Township near Newton on Aug. 2, 1919, the daughter of Everett and Elma (Kling) Lanphier. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural McCord School. Following graduation from Newton Senior High School in 1937, Chrystal taught in the Kellogg Township rural schools. She attended Simpson College in Indianola, receiving her teaching diploma in 1942, and then taught in Grinnell and Newton.
It was while attending summer school at Drake University that she met the love of her life, Jack M. Linn. They were married at First Lutheran Church in Newton on June 2, 1946. They moved to Minneapolis and then to Richfield in 1947, where they raised their family.
Nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with her family.
Chrystal is survived by her four children Craig (Anne) of Waukegan, Ill., Bradley (Caryn) of Eau Claire, Wis., Janet (Wayne) Woolever of Erhard, Minn., and Elaine (Ahmed Abdelwahab) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, Nathan (Katrina), Alex, Mollie and Jack Linn, Cathryn (Aaron Bauer) Linn and Emily Linn, Samuel and Kate Woolever, Hisham, Youssef and Mariam Abdelwahab; and cousins and other family.
Chrystal was an active member of the Woodlake Lutheran Church congregation. She enjoyed managing the family farm, local and national politics, working in her yard, travel, and gathering with neighbors and church friends. She was also a member of Minnesota Valley Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 1979; parents, Everett and Elma; and her infant sister, Lois Marie.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, at Woodlake Lutheran Church, Richfield, Minn. Burial will be in Dawn Valley Cemetery in Bloomington, Minn. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel, 6527 Portland Ave., Richfield, Minn., and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
