Frank J. Annis, Sr. Died Suddenly of Heart Attack
Funeral Services Held Wednesday at Christian Church with Rev. Burr Officiating
Frank J. Annis, Sr., 65, a life long resident of the county, died suddenly Thursday night at 8:15 of a heart attack. He had been about the streets as usual that day.
He was born to Benjamin and LaVina Annis March 18, 1886 at Newton, Iowa.
On May 7, 1908, he was married to Maud Laird at Prairie City, Ia. To this union were born eleven children, all of whom are living. They are Don Annis of Newton, Mrs. John (Pearl) Gearhart of Ira, Mrs. Irvin (Arlene) Showalter of Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. S. E. (Edith) Peters of Corvallis, Oregon; Mrs. Robert (Erma) Kintz of California, Mrs. Elmer (Berneice) Vessels of California, Herbert and Morris Annis of California, Mrs. Delbert (Dorothy) Deaton, Mrs. Melvin (Joyce) Patterson and Frank Annis, Jr. all of Colfax. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Earl Ruggles of Colfax, Mrs. Blanche Albee of Newton; one brother Bruce Annis of Colfax, all of whom will greatly miss him. He was very devoted to his family and greatly enjoyed his grandchildren.
Mr. Annis farmed around Colfax and Ira in his early life. He then went to work at the Automatic factory where he worked for eighteen years before he retired due to a heart condition in August 1945.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Amos A. Burr of Des Moines officiating.
The flower committee was Mrs. Raymond Zachary and Mrs. Harry Thomas.
Pallbearers were Clyde Hendee, Raymond Zachary, Ted Henning, Harry Thomas, Charles Chambers and Jack Patterson.
Interment was in the Colfax cemetery.
