Mrs. Lucy Remsburg Died Suddenly at Home Tuesday
Funeral Services Held Saturday Afternoon From Methodist Church
Mrs. Lucy Ann Remsburg, 80, passed away at her home on Front Street Thursday evening while preparing for bed. She had been in failing health for some time but even those closest to her did not realize the seriousness of her condition because she suffered her pain without complaint.
Lucy Ann Daft, daughter of William H. and Ann Brewin Daft was born on Sept. 18, 1869 on a farm southwest of Colfax where she spent her early life.
She was married to Frank Remsburg March 7, 1893. To this union was born one daughter, Esther Cross of Baxter, Iowa.
She moved to Colfax in 1907 where she spent the rest of her life.
In 1909 she united with the Colfax Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors.
Her parents, three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. One daughter, her sister, Josie Daft, and several nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Methodist church in Colfax with the pastor, Rev. F. L. Shepherd officiating.
Music was furnished by Mary Woods and Mable Kaldenberg with Patsy Ruth Evans, accompanist.
Pallbearers were, Oray Schmitt, Logan Ward, Vernon Schmitt, Dale Hadsall, Lyle Schmitt and Bert Van Maanen.
Flower committee: Mrs. George Rinker and Mrs. Walter Ryan.
Burial was in Waveland cemetery at Prairie City, Ia.
