Dammeier, Karl F. – 1919-2009

Funeral services for Karl F. Dammeier, 89, of Newton will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pence- Reese Funeral Home of Newton. A visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. today.
Memorials may be designated to Hospice of Jasper County.
Karl Fredrick Dammeier, the son of Frederick and Emma (Steiglitz) Dammeier, was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School, class of 1939. Karl farmed for several years, and later was a trucker, hauling livestock for Vic Klopping, for forty years.
On July 7, 1946, Karl was united in marriage with Martha Marie Beukema in Newton. He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Baxter and Farm Bureau, and enjoyed traveling, trains and country music.
Karl died on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha on Nov. 15, 2008; his three sisters and brothers-in-law; a niece; and two nephews.
Those left to honor Karl’s memory include his many nieces and nephews and his many good neighbors and friends.
