Rudy D. Harter, 55, of Newton, formerly of Mingo, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, conducted by Chaplain Merle Smith of the Skiff Medical Center in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton.
Memorials in Rudy’s name may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Lorrie of Newton; daughter, Amy (Wesley) Rhodes of Midlothian, Texas; two sons, Eric and Scott Harter, both of Newton; his two grandchildren, Traci and Tyler Rhodes; mother, Fern Harter of Altoona; his brother, Randy Harter of Altoona; his two sisters, Rita (Terry) Tiffany and Renee (David) Keicher, all of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.
Rudy was preceded in death by his father, Ralph.

Rudy D. Harter: April 21, 1954 - May 13, 2009
Rudy graduated from Mingo Community Schools in 1972. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1972-1976. He was a production worker for John Deere in Ankeny. He had been a production worker for the Maytag Company prior to working for John Deere.
Rudy was a member of American Legion Post 534 in Mingo and the UAW.
