Ronny Hawkins, 63, of Newton died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 8, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Rev. David Rex officiating. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials in Ronny’s name may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Burl Dean and Grace (Keith) Hawkins, he was born on Jan. 22, 1946, in Knoxville. Ronny and Carol St. John were united in marriage on May 20, 1989, in Newton.
Ronny was an electric motor rewinder at A&B Electric in Des Moines. Later he worked as a clerk at Kum & Go in Newton. Ronny enjoyed camping.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hawkins of Newton; one son, Chris (Christina) Hawkins of Cottage Grove, Minn.; three daughters, Tina (Jerry) Templeton of Rochester, Minn., Denise Campbell and Carisa (Rich) Miller, all of Newton; three stepchidren, Carolyn (Tommy) Moonie of Norfolk, Va., Carla (John) Kinney of Florida and Ed (Stacy) Hundley of Grinnell; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Becky Schafer, Judy Taylor and Trudy Delk, all of Newton; his brother, Donny (Nancy) Hawkins of Appleton, Wis.; and his nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Ronny was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Hawkins; and sister, Linda Joyce.
