REASNOR — Henry Oliver Butler, 82, entered into eternal life on Sunday, March 22, 2009, after a long illness.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge Chapter 647 in Newton and the American Legion in Monroe. Henry was a military veteran, stationed mainly in China.
He enjoyed camping and fishing.
Henry will be greatly missed by his wife Doris; sons, Mike (Ashney) Butler from Washington, Mike (Cindy) Cooper of Colfax and Dennis (Darla) Cooper of Newton; daughters Connie Simpson of Calif., Kathy Ballard of Newton, Karen Butler of Colorado, Kristy Butler of Guthrie Center and Carrie Cooper of Reasnor; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Hallie Butler, and all his brothers and sisters.
Services are pending at this time at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive.

A memorial service and family gathering will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Moose Lodge, 2233 S. 24th Ave. W. in Newton.
Henry Oliver Butler was born Feb. 25, 1927, the son of Velma Butler Mendenhall and Hallie O’May, in Stahl, Mo.
Henry will be greatly missed by his wife, Doris; children Mike (Ashnie) Butler, Mike (Cindy) Cooper, Dennis (Darla) Cooper, Connie Simpson, Kathy Ballard, Karen Butler, Kristy Butler and Terry Cooper; one brother, Gary Smith of Newton; one sister, Barbara Blystone of Newton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Vivian Grath, Pat Houstin and Darlene Davis; and two granddaughters, Tammy Cooper and Sammy Butler.
