NOVINGER, Mo. — Carol Harger, 67, of Novinger, Mo., formerly of Newton, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The pastor Mark Young will officiate services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
The family will greet friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Those left to honor Carol's memory include her husband, Ron Harger of Novinger, Missouri; daughters: Pam Marconi of Newton, Dolores Marconi of Newton, and Leila (Randy) Marconi-Crabtree of Elkhart, Iowa; step-son Curtis (Suzanne) Harger of Nevada, Missouri; step-daughter Lonna (Mike) Truitt of Kirksville, Missouri; her two grandchildren, James and Hailey Crabtree; five step-grandchildren; and her brother, John Hoppe of Monrovia, Indiana.
Carol died, at the age of 67, on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Eddie Hoppe, Jr.
Carol Joyce (Hoppe) Harger, daughter of Eddie and Erna (Sicking) Hoppe, was born January 9, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She grew up mostly in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from Burgess High School. While in El Paso, Carol helped exercise Gene Autry’s horse. Following high school, Carol attended Texas Western, now known as the University of Texas-El Paso.
Carol was united in marriage with James Marconi in 1961. This union was blessed with three children: Pam, Dolores and Leila. Carol was later married to Ron Harger on April 1, 1988. She sold real estate, and later worked as a dispatcher for the Jasper County Sherriff’s Department. Carol was a member of Moose Lodge No. 923. She loved working with horses, yardwork, reading, crossword puzzles, and beading. Carol was always very thoughtful and polite.
Memorials may be left to the American Heart Association at the funeral home.
