Betty Jane Bradley, 87, of Newton died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to Hospice of Jasper County. On-line condolences may be left at www.pencefh.com.
Betty, the daughter of Fred Allen and Marie Frances Walton Mulkins, was born Feb. 24, 1922, in Dixon, Ill. She graduated from the Dixon Senior High with the Class of 1940. On May 17, 1947, Betty was united in marriage with Neil Edward Bradley in Dixon. Betty devoted her life to her husband and family. She had worked at the Fashionette in Newton for 17 years. She retired in 1988. Betty was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton and a 30+ year member of the choir. She enjoyed square dancing and round dancing and roller skating. She was also a member of the Newton Squares and several bridge clubs.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Neil Sr. on Oct. 27, 2006; a son, Neil Jr.; one sister and two brothers.
Those left to honor Betty’s memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Judy Bradley of Newton, IA; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
