DEATHS OF THE WEEK

Ida Charity Hauck (Houck) was born in Marion county, Iowa, on July 3, 1875, and passed away at her home three miles south of Attica, Thursday, Dec. 25, 1930, at the age of 55 years, 5 months and 22 days. She had been sick the past nine weeks, part of the time the Knoxville hospital, where she was operated on for gallstones. She seemed to be improving until Saturday before her death, when she suddenly grew weaker.

On Feb. 17, 1897, she was united in marriage to A.E. Cronkhite. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Roy Karr, of Cordova; Mrs. Lloyd Power, of Knoxville; Paul and Harry, both of Chicago, Ill. With the exception of one year at Tracy, Minn.; Mrs. Cronkhite spent her entire life in Marion county.

She leaves to mourn their loss her husband and children; one grandson, Billy Gene Karr; a brother, George Houck, of Attica; four sisters--Mrs. Miranda Mikesell, of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Amos Chambers, of Ackworth, Iowa; Mrs. Frank McKee, of Avonlea, Sask., Canada; and Mrs. Tom Speed of Walton, New York. Three sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. When a girl of seventeen she joined the Evangelical Episcopal church at Red rock, and thereafter lived a devoted Christian life. She was a member of the Attica M.P Ladies' Aid.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 28, at Indiana Chapel, conducted by Rev. N.B. Blackman, assisted by Rev. J.H. Beveridge. Burial was in Indiana Chapel cemetery.
