Paul A. Behun Jr., 64, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Heritage Manor in Newton.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be made to Iowa River Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Paul and his family.
Paul was born on April 18, 1944, in New York state. He was the son of Paul Behun Sr. and Rebbecca Condon. He was educated in the area of his birth. He entered the U.S. Army and served seven tours in Vietnam. In 1968, he married Lora Holdsworth in Newton. To this union, four children were born. They later divorced. On Nov. 27, 1993, Paul married Laura Sargent in Marshalltown. Paul adopted Laura’s daughter, Amanda. Laura passed away in June 2006.
Paul traveled while in the military, living most of his life in Marshalltown until recently when he moved to Newton. He worked at Kiowa in the shipping department until retirement. After retirement, he prepared pizza at Pizza Hut. He enjoyed fishing, especially for trout, camping, hunting, shelties and shihtzus, and he was a big Buffalo Bills fan.
Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Michael (Cindy) Behun of Newton, Lori (Dave) Fisher of Nashua, Robert Behun (Deborah Wilson) of Centuria, Wis., Jeremy (Jami) Behun of Monroe, and Amanda Behun of Marshalltown; his two grandsons; four granddaughters; his siblings, Carolyn (Gary) Bennett, Phyllis Larsen, and James (Sarah) Vanderpool, all of New York; and his mother-in-law, Mildred Holdsworth of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and his wife, Laura.
