KELLOGG — Funeral services for Ronald Dean Wilson, 72, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where a visitation will be held with the family present from 5 until 8 p.m.
Memorials in Ron’s name may be left at the funeral home.
Ronald Dean Wilson, the son of Harley and Lottie (Harvey) Wilson, was born Nov. 26, 1935, in Iowa City. Ron attended What Cheer Community Schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 until he was discharged on Dec. 9, 1963. Ron worked for the Maytag Company, retiring in 1984 with over 30 years service. He also owned and operated Wilson’s Bait and Tackle Shop in Kellogg and worked as bartender in several establishments in Kellogg.
Ron loved his family and was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed trying his luck at several gambling establishments.
Ron died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Agnes Wilson, Darlene Reynolds and Betty Himes; and his brothers, Clarence Wilson and Cloyd Wilson.
Those left to honor the memory of Ron include his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Shane Engle of Kellogg; a granddaughter, Tessa Engle of Kellogg; a grandson, Noah Engle of Kellogg; a sister, Barb Masterson of What Cheer; his girlfriend, Karol Davis of Kellogg; many nieces, nephews and friends.
