Funeral services for Eva Jones Koopman, 86, of Embassy Manor Care Center, formerly of 747 N. 4th Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1947, were held today, Feb. 5, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, conducted services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.

Visitation and wake services were held Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Veterans of Foreign wars Auxiliary will be accepted.

She died Saturday morning at the manor of Cancer.

Survivors are two grandsons, Charles "Chuck" Koopman and Bill Koopman, both of Newton; two great-grandson; two brothers, Richard Jones of Knoxville and Harry Jones of Texas; and a sister, Merna Spencer of Albia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William, April 6, 1979, a son, Keith James, Aug. 5, 1975 and nine sisters and brothers.

Mrs. Koopman, a homemaker, was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Navy Mothers of World War II and the Merry Mixers Club.

The daughter of Ebenezer and Emma Casey Jones, she was born Sept. 6, 1903 in Knoxville.

She was married to William James Koopman Aug. 2, 1920 in Knoxville. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, February 1990
