Mary Ann Kimmel

Mary Ann Colangelo Kimmel, 71, of 902 E. 15th St. S., a resident of Newton since 1946, died this morning, May 25, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. William Calhoun, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Memorials in her name may be left at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Survivors are her husband, Woodrow; a daughter, Toni (Mrs. Kevin) Peska of Newton; two grandchildren; two brothers, James Colangelo and Paul Bonarrigo, both of Dunmore, Pa.; and four sisters, Carmel (Mrs. William) Miller, Angelina (Mrs. Tom) Gyza and Nebbie (Mrs. Al) Kotchick, all of Dunmore, Pa., and Ruth (Mrs. Lowell) Deykes of Bloomington, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Kimmel, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Newton Chapter 100 Order of Easter Star, had served as field nurse in Europe during World War II.

She was employed as a nurse for Dr. Mc Murray and at Skiff Medical Center.

The daughter of Leonard and Grace Rinaldi Colangelo, she was born Oct. 3, 1918 in Dunmore, Pa., was graduated from Dunmore High School and nurses' training in Dunmore, Pa.

She was married to Woodrow Kimmel June 8, 1946 in Dunmore, Pa. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1990
